RE: Arizona Options

I think it would be fun just to go watch someone else do it for awhile. I have a gold pan, I guess its called a sluice too. I will be sure and bring it when I come out there. We can get around in that desert real good and quick with our small adventure motorcycles. mtnman

RE: Arizona Options

If we get out there I would not mind getting to know someone that prospects. I think it would be fun to do some of that this winter. If I get the "gold fever" maybe I can take a couple of motorcycle rides and get over it? mtnman

Arizona Options

My wife and I have been discussing our winter plans. We usually go to Florida every year. Last year we spent some time in Texas before going back to Florida for the winter. We are looking hard at Arizona for this winter. We are not new to Arizona, we have been there twice before but just a week at a time. We spent one week in Cottonwood and another week all around AZ. We like to ride in the desert on our small adventure motorcycles. We have looked at several places including Q, which is way too crowded for us. We want to be where we can take off to the desert every day on our street legal motorcycles. We would like to know about some small towns with reasonably priced RV Parks with some activities? Replys and PMs welcome! Mtnman

RE: Onan gen help

I cut open the old fuel pump to see what was wrong with it. The old pump still run, it just would not pump fuel. It had a rubber pad about the size of an aspirn in it that appeared to be bad, it was worn on the edges. I suppose it has been in the generator since 1994. mtnman

RE: Onan gen help

Update!!!! I got it running, it was the fuel pump. The little fuel pump was $62 from the auto parts store. The fuel pump came with a filter already attached to it as well. mtnman

I will have to wait until it stops raining to get under the mh. What about a fuse? mtnman

Onan gen help

I have a Onan Emerald Plus 4000 gas gen in my 1994 fleetwood. The generator ran great until last week when I got below half a tank of fuel in the motorhome. I checked and had no fuel to the gen carb. I have about 3/4 tank of fuel now but there is no fuel getting to the gen. I tried to start it as I read in another post that it took a long time to get fuel back to the carb after running out. I can make the gen run as long as I have fuel going to it. What do you think it is: Fuel pump? Is there a fuse for the fuel pump? I dont think the fuel pump is on the gen, it looks to me like it is somewhere else closer to the tank? mtnman

RE: Blue Ridge Parkway

We stay on the Blue Ridge Parkway all the time. The NC campgrounds are our favorite because of highier elevations(cooler). The cg fee is $16 or $8 with golden age access pass. There are no hookups. You will not need hookups if you are driving daily. We stay a week at a time in one cg without any hookups. They all have fresh water and dump station. The sites are very small (built in the 50s)but most will handle a 30 foot rv. All are paved and all have a host. The two I like most are Doughton and Mt Pisgah. mtnman

RE: Mount Airy , NC

Andy Griffith grew up there. Its a fun place to visit and pretty little town. There is the diner where you can get a porkchop sandwich right beside Floyds barber shop. There is also a Andy museume thats full of old Mayberry history. I never spent more than a day at a time there, I would think 2 days would be enough. I dont know about the camping in Mt Airy but the Blue Ridge Parkway is only about 15 miles from there. mtnman

RE: Vermont help

Thanks Bill & Tom Cat! We are getting pretty excited about our trip to Vermont. We havent set a date yet, we are still doing our research. What you are saying here sounds like us, No traffic and lots of twisty back roads. I read some about the North East Kingdom, sounds great. mtnmnan

Vermont help

The wife and I are planning a late summer trip to Vermont. We have never been there and need all the help we can get. We usually go to Colorado and Utah but with the fuel prices we decided that we wanted to go somewhere closer to home and different. Vermont is going to be a new adventure for us this year. We are very interested in the back roads, dirt roads and forest roads as we will be taking our small dual sport motorcycles for dirt road adventure riding. We do not plan on taking the MH on any of these roads. We will headquarter somewhere else and travel to the back roads on our bikes. We are also interested in any old ghost towns if there are any? I would also like to know what the weather is like in Vermont? Is it humid and hot like the south? I also need to know about roads, are there any steep roads I need to avoid? We have some pretty steep climbs around here in the mountains of NC as we go up on the Blue Ridge Parkway several times a year. I dont want to get into trouble with hills. I sure hope there are some Vermont residents or travelers out there that can help us. If you dont want to post, feel free to send me a personal message. mtnman
